I don’t have the power!

October 30, 2007 computers

You can never find a power bar when you need one. I’ve got a dozen old cell phones (nokia 3590s and LG 4010s) that the company has gone through over time and I’m going to sell them on Craigslist. I’ve opened them up, recorded the numbers, made sure the SIM cards have been removed, and I [...]

J’want.

October 29, 2007 Cool Websites

I saw a cool house on tv the other day. It’s the Everingham Rotating House. It turns 360 degrees and has a great floor plan for a round-ish house. (Our cabin is hexagonal in design and it has some wasted space.)   Best idea I’ve seen in home construction in a long time.

Moving

Living the Boom and Bust

October 23, 2007 The Economy

This morning Mom and I went down to Camrose to meet my sister at Augustana (a UofA campus). They were having a "teach-in day" there called Alberta: Living the Boom and Bust.   The first speaker and the person we most wanted to hear was Melissa Blake, the mayor of Wood Buffalo, i.e. the mayor [...]

The Clothes Make the Man

October 19, 2007 Business

I’ve been reading the small business feature the Edmonton Journal’s been running for a couple weeks now, and one of the articles caught my eye. My late grandfather used to buy his suits in Hong Kong during business trips. To him it was important to be, and to know he was, the best dressed man [...]
