It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year and I’m stoked for the Saturday night Easter Vigil. One of the most beautiful liturgies in the Church, and the one where I was confirmed and became a full member of the Catholic Church 5 years ago.

I hope you spend the weekend with your friends, loved ones and give thanks the things you’re thankful for. This tune is Christ is Risen by Matt Maher and it’s a favorite of mine.

This week’s Song of the Week comes from Matt Maher. He’s got a great tune known as the Cheesecake Song, and I found this live version from Sydney where he explains it’s origin.

My Only Love – Matt Maher on the Song of the Week

I’ve been a little lax on getting the SOW up on time, so here we go. I’m not really sure if this will show up at 6 a.m. Irish time or MST, but I’ve scheduled it for then. It’s actually Thursday night, but I’m on a roll.

This is Matt Maher, one of my favorite musicians period. He’s also a Catholic Christian, and his music made up close to half the music at Megan and my wedding ceremony. If he’d written this one then I would have quite possibly used it too. It’s a great tune, and he’s a great guy.

Matt Maher’s Empty & Beautiful – Song of the Week

It’s been a great week but I’m glad it’s Friday! This week Megan and I started marriage prep, I got to speak at CBD Network and I attended Twestival Kelowna on Thursday night. Tomorrow I think Megan and I are going cross-country skiing or snowshoeing and then I’ll make dinner. Sunday I’m up a Big White patrolling!

Megan bought Matt Maher’s new CD Empty and Beautiful, and I’ve been kind of addicted to it all week. (Well, that and the January REIN workshop and JV Secrets CDs.)

In case I haven’t mentioned it before, Matt Maher is one of my favorite artists. You should check his stuff out. And I’ve gotta give a shout-out to their drummer, Dan Hinze who just had a beautiful baby boy. There’s going to be a lot of Matt Maher tunes at my wedding!
